Owner, Marisa Balfour, was first exposed to the outdoor cooking and entertaining industry by chance in 2011, when she was asked to help a friend at an industry trade show. Little did she know that she would find her passion. She spent the weekend helping people visualize their outdoor cooking and entertainment spaces and imagined how they could implement their dream outdoor design into their own backyard. From that point on, she was hooked on helping others conceptualize and accomplish their vision.
Marisa spent several years as an executive in her own business, manufacturing parts for the semiconductor equipment industry which gave her a deep appreciation for the importance of quality, durability and attention to detail. Following her time in manufacturing, Marisa worked as a residential real estate agent and developed a keen understanding of the value a beautiful outdoor cooking and entertaining space can bring to a home’s value.
Bay Area BBQ Islands opened in September, 2011, with the express purpose of bringing a new level of service and quality, as well as a fresh perspective to the process of designing, building and delivering custom barbeque islands. Marisa loves inspiring her clients to dream of the possibilities and then build them exactly what they want.
